SAN FRANCISCO, CA (July 7, 2017)—Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is pleased to announce the release of the Green-e Framework for Renewable Energy Certification, a guidance document that establishes baseline criteria for the development of regional Green-e certification standards around the world that will govern the sale and use of renewable energy that is consistent, credible, and impactful. The Framework addresses the longstanding need for international criteria that enforce the quality of renewable energy generation, transactions, and use, while providing a way to address local stakeholder and market-development goals. With the release of the Framework, companies and individuals who want the environmental benefits of high-quality clean energy can drive the development of new regional Green-e standards.

This new Framework serves as the baseline for new Green-e regional and country-specific certification standards, and outlines the common core technical requirements for certification of renewable energy transactions that occur through electric service providers and other sellers of tradable certificate products, direct power purchase agreements (PPAs), and onsite generation. These requirements ensure that Green-e certified clean energy:

To read the Framework, visit Green-e Energy Documents. To participate in the current stakeholder comment period for the regional standard for Singapore, see “Second Comment Period Open for the Green-e Renewable Energy Code for Singapore”.

As a result of the publication of the Framework, the Green-e Energy National Standard is now the Green-e Renewable Energy Standard for Canada and the United States.
