HOUSTON, TX (October 10, 2018)—Silicon Ranch was awarded a Green Power Leadership Award in Green Power Market Development from Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) today for its work in building and growing the voluntary market for renewable energy. The Green Power Leadership Awards are competitive awards that recognize organizations and individuals for outstanding commitments and achievements in the green power marketplace. They were presented at the annual Renewable Energy Markets conference in Houston, TX.
“Silicon Ranch has helped develop utility-scale solar projects in a part of the country that is largely underserved by renewable energy, but has great resource potential,” said CRS Executive Director Jennifer Martin. “By working in partnership with large public and private customers, the company has demonstrated that successful projects can happen where they’re needed most.”
“Our goal at Silicon Ranch has always been to ensure that Americans have access to a reliable, affordable, and clean energy supply,” said Matt Kisber, Co-Founder & CEO. “We are honored by this recognition from Center for Resource Solutions because not only is it a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Silicon Ranch team, but also it is a tribute to the vision and leadership of our forward-thinking customers across the country.”
Silicon Ranch, a solar owner-operator based in Nashville, TN, works with corporate off-takers, utilities, and solar developers to develop some of the largest utility-scale solar arrays in the Southeast, a market largely underserved by renewable energy deployment. The company works with a diverse set of customers and partners, including utilities, military and defense facilities, small to large industrial facilities, and commercial businesses.
Silicon Ranch developed and owns and operates the Aerojet Rocketdyne Solar Farm, a pioneering project which was completed in December 2015 in partnership with Ouachita Electric Cooperative Corporation and the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation. It was the first utility-scale solar facility in the state of Arkansas.
The company also completed Volkswagen’s 8MW direct-feed photovoltaic solar system in 2012, which serves VW’s Chattanooga manufacturing and assembly plant. The first of its kind in the Tennessee Valley, the ground-mounted solar installation covers approximately 60 acres and uses over 33,000 solar panels to generate clean, renewable energy that supports VW’s “Think Blue” global sustainability commitment.
