AUSTIN, TX (September 23, 2013) — Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) recognized five organizations and one individual today for their role in building and shaping the market for renewable energy over the past year. The award recipients were honored during the 2013 Green Power Leadership Awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Renewable Energy Markets 2013 conference taking place in Austin, TX this week. The CRS Market Development award category recognizes organizations and individual renewable energy leaders that have helped increase the demand for clean energy through their actions.
CRS recognizes market leadership through four awards: the Best Green Power Education Outreach Program award recognizes effective and unique outreach programs focusing on education related to green power; Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Purchaser recognizes an organization that promotes the use of green power in an innovative or compelling way; Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Supplier is given for novelty, originality, and success in a campaign to gain new customers; and the Green Power Leader of the Year is awarded to an individual for continuous achievement, vision, and dedication to green power.

An independent selection committee reviewed dozens of nominations. This year’s Green Power Market Development Award Winners are:
- Best Green Power Education Outreach Program: Women of Wind Energy
- Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Purchaser: BMW
- Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Supplier: Clean Currents, Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power
- Green Power Leader of the Year Award: Jon Wellinghoff, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
“Our winners this year represent an amazing breadth of ingenuity, creativity, and hard work in the service of clean energy,” said Jennifer Martin, executive director of Center for Resource Solutions. “There is much work to be done in increasing demand for renewable energy, and these organizations and individuals have each done an exemplary job in spreading awareness and driving adoption nationwide.”
CRS co-sponsors the Green Power Leadership Awards with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize outstanding commitments and achievements in the green power marketplace in the following three categories: Purchasers, Suppliers, and Market Development.
