Green-e Point-of-Purchase (POP) Tags Certification Standard
On June 27th, the Green-e Governance Board approved a certification standard for POP Tags. POP Tags certification will be considered an additional benefit of Green-e certification, and there will be no additional fee for this service. It will be available to all providers that are currently offering a Green-e certified retail or commercial product regardless of whether the product is a TRC, Competitive Electricity or Green Pricing product. Energy providers interested in Green-e certification for a POP Tag product will be required to complete a separate application detailing the resources that will be used in the POP Tags, the size in kWh of the POP Tags, any claims that they will be making associated with the POP Tags, and their methodology for calculating those claims. To review the final standard and/or apply for POP Tag certification, please see www.green-e.org/ipp/pop_tags_standard.html . Please contact: Siobhan Doherty at Siobhan@resource-solutions.org, (415) 561-2100, with any questions or to receive more information.

For more information and to download the standards and comments, please see :www.green-e.org/ipp/standard_dev.html. Comments for the second round are due on October 19th, 2005. The Green-e National Certification Standard will replace Green-e region-specific and product-specific criteria documents. This standard will apply to all products – Competitive Electricity, Renewable Energy Certificates and Utility Green Pricing across the nation. CRS staff will forward all comments to the Green-e Board for review and consideration. The Green-e Board meets October 23rd to discuss the National Standard. If you have questions about the proposed standards, the form, or the comment process, please contact: Siobhan Doherty at Siobhan@resource-solutions.org, (415) 561-2100, with any questions.
