would like to be included as a stakeholder in this process, please
contact Lars Kvale at lars@resource-solutions.org.

Recent Green-e Board Decision
|
The Green-e Board met on April
14th to discuss Section IV.A of the Green-e National Standard.
The board decided to provide more flexibility in the geographic
eligibility requirements for Green-e certification of competitive
electricity and green pricing products by allowing the following
sourcing boundaries as eligible:
- The state where the
customer is located; and/or
- The North American Electric Reliability Council
(NERC) region, Independent System Operator, Regional
Transmission Organization or Balancing Authority Area
of the customer being served; and/or
- An adjacent NERC, Independent System Operator,
Regional Transmission Organization or Balancing Authority
Area region where the electricity, bundled with a REC,
is wheeled into the respective region of the customer
being served
Previous to this decision,
Green-e criteria relied on NERC regions as geographic boundaries
for competitive electricity and utility green pricing options.
However, NERC regions can be problematic for marketers and
utilities that serve multiple NERC regions, particularly in
the Midwest where the NERC regions have a “Swiss cheese”
profile. Green-e certified RECs can continue to be sourced
nationally. To review the current Green-e National Standard,
