In 2023, CRS highlighted a year of progress in advancing clean, sustainable energy through policy advocacy, education, and market certification. CRS strengthened renewable energy markets by ensuring the integrity of renewable energy certificates (RECs) and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. The Clean Energy Accounting Project (CEAP) developed guidance on renewable procurement for complex supply chains and aims to expand into renewable fuels like biomethane and green hydrogen.
The Green-e® Renewable Fuels program experienced continued growth, while a new international Green-e® standard enabled certification in emerging global electricity markets.
The REM™ and REM™ Asia conferences in Washington, D.C. and Singapore gathered leaders from dozens of countries to discuss corporate procurement trends, equity in renewable programs, and clean energy policies.
