Under California’s Enhanced Community Renewables (ECR) Program, developers work with utilities to have their renewable energy projects included in a utility’s Green-e Energy certified renewable energy offering. Under this program, developers take on the responsibility for marketing their electricity product(s) directly to residential and commercial customers, who have become accustomed to receiving this type of information from their utility. Green-e Energy certification has a number of important customer disclosure and marketing requirements placed on materials associated with all certified products. Developers who choose to engage in the ECR program must be prepared to work within marketing guidelines set by Green-e Energy. Developers must receive ensure that all marketing is in compliance with Green-e Energy marketing requirements prior to engaging with any customers, by submitting such materials to the relevant utility for approval.
