  • The 2023 Green-e® Verification Report (2022 Data) is an annual, year-end report that aggregates reporting data from participants in the three Green-e® programs—Green-e® Climate, Green-e® Energy, and Green-e® Marketplace. The 2023 report, which was compiled from data gathered during the 2022 reporting year, highlighted significant market trends, including:

    • More than 114 million retail megawatt-hours (MWh) were reported from Green-e® Energy participants, an increase of about 4% compared to 2021 sales, the highest to date and enough to power four out of five U.S. households for a month
    • CRS currently certifies over 2.7% of the total U.S. electricity mix
    • More than half of the installed wind capacity in the U.S. is participating in Green-e® Energy certified transactions
    • Newer generation continues to drive the market, with about half of the energy supplying certified sales and overall generating capacity coming from facilities under five years old
    • 1.3 million retail purchasers of Green-e® certified renewable energy, including almost 314,000 businesses and more than a million residential customers
    • Sales of Green-e® Climate certified carbon offsets reached nearly 394,000 offsets
    • Green-e® Marketplace participants reached 32, with more than 800 products certified by the end of the year
